Jurong terminal storage tank Pte. Ltd. (Singapore)envisions a net-zero future in which shipping will use a variety of fuels. We are committed to making sure that our fleet is prepared to switch to zero-carbon fuels as soon as they become available. Although their availability is uncertain, we anticipate that zero-carbon fuels will become more widely available starting in 2030, after which our industry will experience a dramatic acceleration of significant emissions reductions.
We think that while green hydrogen, batteries, and fuel cells may be utilized for smaller vessels and short-haul shipping, synthetic and bio-methanol, green ammonia, and bio and synthetic Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) may end up being the fuel of choice for bigger oceangoing vessels. The shift to a low-carbon economy necessitates extensive group efforts and fruitful collaborations between stakeholders in and outside of the maritime industry. By working together, we can take advantage of and strengthen the connections between inland and ocean-going logistics as well as other industries that supply infrastructure, distribution networks, and fuels.
